  1. Things to Know About Your Floor Finishing Williamsburg, Virginia, USA

  2. Hardwood Floor New Home • It must be understood that when a hardwood floor is laid or restored (sanding, varnishing, oiling), this has certain consequences.  • However, it is a sustainable choice, a real investment. • That's why it's important to get information before making a decision. • I have gathered for you my best advice regarding the choice of flooring to help you in your approach. Good reading!

  3. A Factory Varnished Wood Is Not Harder • Wood suppliers and flooring manufacturers now offer high quality products. • Their processes make it possible to plane, sand and vitrify the planks optimally. This gives so-called "prefinished" floors, solid wood and in different species such as maple, birch and ash. • At their request, I sand and varnish the existing floor in one of the rooms of the residence and I lay a prefinished floor of the same essence in another room. • After two or three years, the two floors will have the same appearance, the same demarcations.

  4. Old and New Floors • Engineered wood floors contain only hardwood veneer and are less "alive" (heat, moisture). • Once revitalized by a sandblaster, however, they lose these furrows and can only be distinguished by the fact that their planks are generally wider and shorter. • Moreover, it is no longer true, as was the case a decade ago, that these floors yell more quickly. • On the contrary, the sealants used today are no longer oil-based and contain UV protection, which protects their new appearance.

  5. The Finishing Of a Floor Takes Time • I illustrate this value with an example: my team and I worked in an ancestral home. It took a lot of effort and time to sand and dye large cherry floors, as well as a huge overhanging staircase. • After the first opening, the result was simply beautiful and gave an incredible character to the residence.  • We had meticulously followed all the steps and the work was impeccable. • Due to some constraints beyond the control of our team, we were forced to anticipate the application of the final layer of varnish, despite the fact that the atmospheric conditions were not optimal. • Result: the varnish did not spread as it should during drying and therefore did not look perfectly smooth as we seek in our business.
