The Sui Dynasty Brings Unity then Revolt -Wendi, a Chinese General declared himself Emperor in A.D. 581. He won many battles and set up a new dynasty called The Sui Dynasty. (SWAY) -This unified China, once again, under the rule of emperors.

The Sui Dynasty Brings Unity then Revolt Wendi was followed by his son, Yangdi, who wanted to expand China’s territory. He was not successful. He had more success trying to bring back the glory of the Han Dynasty. He accomplished the following things: * Repaired the Great Wall * Rebuilt the magnificent Han capital city of Changan * Built the Grand Canal – waterways that connected China’s two great rivers (the Huang He and the Yangtze) * The waterways made it easier to ship rice and other products between northern and southern China. * This united China’s economy.
