  3. Ranking Being a competition intern for the Senior Games was very rewarding. We were given a huge amount of responsibility and got to work with a great group of interns and sport industry professionals from all around the country. Although we worked about 115 hours a week, our experience and free accommodations helped us have a good time.

  4. Words of Wisdom • Always work hard because you never know who might be watching. • You can never have too many contacts. • Whenever you face a difficult task, just keep your head up, and Knock It Out.

  5. Lauren’s Objectives

  6. Lauren’s Daily Activities • Prepare courts and head tables for competition each morning. • Input all the results into a spreadsheet and deliver them to results manager twice a day • Coordinate practice courts and player sign up • Gather all divisional award winners, lead them to the stage, and assist in the award ceremonies • Provide National Sports Chairs and officials with supplies, food and parking vouchers • Act as the liaison between all three sports and the NSGA

  7. Lauren’s Project • Competition bracket creation and distribution • Design seeded double and single elimination brackets for up to 34 teams • Needed to be uniform and applicable for each sport • Sent to each intern to use for their respective sports • Total of 102 pages in 68 documents

  8. Ryan’s Objectives • Assist the competition staff in planning and execution of designated sport • Work with local and national governing bodies • Assist with the creation of the sports schedules • Work with operations staff with facility setup

  9. Ryan’s Daily Activities • Prepare the tennis courts and head table each day for competition • Update draws as needed • Input results into the TDM system • Take award winners to the award stage for presentation • Repair courts and nets when needed.

  10. Ryan’s Project • My project was to prepare the brackets for each tennis division. • I then made sure that each staff member and competitor knew of the updated schedules. • There were a total of over 50 brackets that needed to be updated daily.
