  2. Origin • Captain America was published in 1941 • It was published by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby • It was Published by Marvel Comics

  3. Joe Simon & Jack Kirby • Joe Simon, the writer, made a sketch called The Super American which became Captain America. • Super American was Changed to Captain America because there were too many supers. • Jack Kirby assisted Joe Simon with the workload of Writing Captain America

  4. Captain America’s Story • Captain America’s Name is Steve Rogers • Steve was born in 1920’s Manhattan • Steve was born into a family of poor Irish Immigrants. • Steve was a student who specialized in illustrations

  5. Steve Rogers wanted to enlist into the military but was deemed too weak. • He joined Project Rebirth • Project Rebirth had Steve injected with a special serum that gave him extraordinary power

  6. Marvel comics published Captain America • Marvel was founded by Martin Goodman • Began in 1939 under the name of timely comics • Marvel is currently owned by Disney

  7. Sidekick • Captain America’s sidekick was Bucky Barnes • Bucky was temporarily replaced by Captain America’s girlfriend when he was shot • Bucky was adopted after his father died in WW2

  8. Captain America’s Archenemy is The Red Skull • The Red Skull appeared in the first issue of the Captain America series • The Red Skull’s real name is Johann Schmidt, a former Nazi officer

  9. Captain America Today • Captain America, today, is appointed by the president as head of the nation’s security • He assembles the Avengers unity squad composed of the classic avengers & X-men • He raises a Kid named Leopold as his son
