  3. 74.8% witnessed murder of family or friend • 64.3% witnessed murder of stranger(s) • 56.1% beaten or tortured • 14.1% raped or sexually abused • 89.9% lacked food or water • 65.0% ill without medical care • 77.3% lacked housing or shelter • 93.0% not safe in the camps

  7. Prevalence of PTSD and Depression • Overall, 54.3% met criteria for PTSD • Women: 60.1% • Men: 45.6% • 67.4% met criteria for depression • Women: 78.0% • Men: 51.4 (All results, p-values <0.05)

Factors associated with PTSD and Depression(Multivariate logistic regression analysis, p<0.05) • Gender: Strong association of gender on mental distress • Women twice more likely to exhibit symptoms of PTSD, [OR 2.06, 95% CI 1.49-2.84] • Women were four times more likely to exhibit symptoms of depression [OR 4.32, 95% CI 2.80-6.66] (p-values <0.05)

Factors associated with PTSD and Depression(Multivariate logistic regression analysis) • No longer married (divorced, separated, widowed): • more likely to exhibit symptoms of PTSD, [OR 1.80, 95% CI 1.25-2.59] • Over two times more likely to exhibit symptoms of depression [OR 2.41, 95% CI 1.36-4.27] (p-values <0.05)

  10. Factors associated with PTSD and Depression(Multivariate logistic regression analysis, p<0.05) • Distance of displacement: People who were displaced >5 miles from home village more likely to have depression; [OR 1.47, 95% CI 1.16-1.85]
