What is Edu2.0? • Edu2.0 is a complete Web-based learning management system for public and private teaching. • It includes: • more than 10,000 shared online resources • a range of networking and collaboration features--wikis, blogs, feeds, chat, etc. • assessments, attendance logs, grading, assignments, etc. http://www.edu20.org/

  6. What was gained through the online discussion? Student: • Excitement within the responses • Quality of writing • Online learning knowledge • Continued work on writing and reading Teacher: • Immediate feedback • Cover more material • Enforce the principles of quality writing

  7. Students: Collaboration (wiki) • Choice of outside reading and other stories What was gained by using the wiki? • Instructional time • Efficiency

  8. Students: Collaboration (chat) • Online, synchronous mid-term exam review • Two days (one hour) • Students asked and answered questions • Students were able to view transcripts of the review session

Joining Edu2.0 today • Go to www.edu20.org • Click sign up free (upper right) • Complete the sign up information, and you will be automatically logged in • Click the Learn Tab • Click search a class • Type in class id: 95431 • Type the Password: Valentine • Enter the Professional Development Classroom

Now that I am here, what can I do? • Navigate to the following areas to do the following things: • Resources (retrieve a copy of this presentation or other related materials) • Calendar (view important dates in February) • Forums/Discussion (post a question or comment about edu2.0 to me or others in the class) • Collaboration/Chat (communicate with others in the class synchronously)

Edu2.0 Directions for Educators • Get on the internet • Go to www.edu20.org • Click sign up free(upper right) • Complete the sign up information and you will be automatically logged in • Click the Teach Tab • Click add a class • Complete the sign up information for the class • Click Save • Write the class id # and password down for students
