  1. Five Ways to Overcome the Fear of Flying The fear of flying is something that inflicts many people. It’s often rooted in fear of heights, a lack of control, and a fear of the unknown. Of course, this fear could potentially stop you from living your life to the fullest. It may prevent you from travelling or seeing your family as often as you’d like. Today, we’re going to look at a few things you can do to rid yourself of this fear once and for all. Here are five things you can do to overcome your fear of flying. Learn the Stats: Educating yourself is one of the most powerful ways to combat fear. That’s because most anxiety is based on the fear of the unknown. Therefore, learning more about what scares us can have a relaxing effect on us. For example, statistics have shown that driving is far more dangerous than flying. Getting into a crash is exceedingly rare, and even when it happens, over 90 percent of passengers survive. This is just a start. Take the time to do some research, and you’ll see there’s nothing to be afraid of. Focus on Your Breathing: Anxiety isn’t just a mental state, it’s physical as well. And a part of the reason why we experience so many physical symptoms when we’re anxious, it is because our breathing becomes shallow and uneven. The best way to reverse this is to control your breathing when you feel the fear. Take a deep breath. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. This will go a long way towards relieving any stress you feel. Learn How Turbulence Works: Of course, one of the scariest moments of a flight is when the plane starts to rock and feel like it’s losing control. The truth is, turbulence is a normal occurrence and not something to be afraid of. In fact, planes are built to handle much worse than what an average flight will experience. Keep this in mind and remember to control your breathing whenever turbulence hits. Keep Yourself Distracted: Odds are, you’ll be in the air for at least an hour and a half or so. This is not a good time to leave yourself alone with your thoughts, as you’re likely to encounter the same old anxieties. The best way to handle this problem is to keep your mind occupied during the flight. It’s a good idea to bring a book or two with you when you fly. If have any work that can be done while you’re in the air, then this is another great way to distract yourself.

  2. Start Flying: Of course, one of the best ways to alleviate any fear is to face it head-on. Exposure therapy has proven to be one of the most effective methods for disposing off fear. The more you do something, the more comfortable you’ll become with it. You’ll begin to realize that flying is safe and there’s nothing to be afraid of. Therefore, the best thing you can do is simply take that first flight. Once you get some experience, you’ll never be afraid again. Finally, if you really want to conquer this problem, you might consider seeking professional help from institutes such as Allen Carr. Fear is a powerful emotion, but you don’t want to let it control your life. Take action and start doing something about it today. To know more visit https://www.allencarr.com/fear-of-flying/
