History of Raises • Raises historically have been tied to the district’s growth in student enrollment • Enrollment over the past ten years has fluctuated up and down • The past two years enrollment has increased steadily • Last year and this year the board approved raises that could be sustained in proportion to our growth • Arkansas’ state average as of October 2012 for beginning teacher’s salary is $32,679 • Benton beginning teacher salary is $35,925

  8. Recent Salary Increase • The school board approved a 2% raise to the salary pool in the 2012-2013 school year • The school board approved a 3% raise to the salary pool at the September 2013 board meeting. • A 5% increase over past two years

  9. School Board Input • The school board held two budget workshops and two regular board meetings to address budget issues and discuss the proposed salary raise. • The board wants to see the starting teacher salary at the top of the regional comparison list- how do we get there?
