THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Memory Verse: Galatians 5:25 “25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” BIBLE PASSAGE:Galatians 5:13-26 INTRODUCTION: The fruit of the Holy Spirit is outcome of His dwelling in us. It is the result of the Holy Ghost acting through the new creature after the new birth.

  6. Outline 1: • WHAT IS THE FRUIT? • Galatians 5:21-23 lists the nine graces that combine to form the one fruit: • Love: This is divine love. A strong and compassionate devotion to the well-being of others – 1 John 4:7. • Joy: This is not just happiness that the world may give but deep rooted gladness in the Holy Spirit – Philippians 4:4. • Peace: This is the peace of God that completely satisfies – Colossians 3:15. • Longsuffering: Being long the frailties of others without murmuring – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 2 Corinthians 6:4-6. Outline 1: • WHAT IS THE FRUIT? • Gentleness: This means to be kind, cool-tempered, cultured and refined in character and conduct - 2 Timothy 2:24-26. • Goodness:This grace makes the believer to do good work – Exodus 33:19, Ephesians 5:9. • Faith: This is the principle of a whole heart confidence in God and all that He says – Hebrews 11:6. • Meekness:The grace to suffer injuries without feeling a spirit of revenge – 2 Timothy 2:25, Psalm 25:9. • Temperance: Self-control, a moderation in the indulgence of the appetites, passion and in almost everything – Proverb 23:1-3, Daniel 1:8, Philippians 4:5.   8. THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT • Outline 2: • HOW TO BEAR FRUIT. • We can only bear the fruit of the Sprit if we are dead to the world and the world is dead to us – John 12:24. Many are fruitless because self has not been crucified in them. It is only the new life in Christ filled with the Holy Spirit that is capable of bringing forth fruit to the glory of God - Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 5:17.

  9. THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT • CONCLUSION • Since a tree is known by its fruit, the believer is equally known by the fruit of the Holy Spirit he bears - Matthew 12:33, Numbers 13:26. The Lord Jesus Christ our perfect example demonstrated all the nine instances of grace, therefore, we too can do the same if we completely surrender to Him.
