  1. WLTP-DTP Subgroup Additional PollutantsVP2 Results Date: 10. Dec. 2012

  2. Validation NO2 Measurement So far, additional data from 6 labs received: 11 Vehicles 157 Tests with modal and bag results for NO All labs used CLD Data is sufficient to close open issue

  3. NO2: Open Issue Should measurement of NO or NO2 from bag be allowed as alternative to modal measurement?

  4. NO2: measurement from bag versus modal measurement Measurement from bag systematically yields higher concentration of NO2 This is due to the reaction of NO to NO2 in the bag  To avoid error modal measurement is required

  5. NO2: Repeat Measurements Repeat measurements (3 to 6 tests) show identical scatter for bag and modal measurement of NO

  6. NO2: Zero scatter • Basis: 96 results from vehicle with very low NO2 emission • Scatter from modal measurement smaller than from bag • Concentration ca. 0,1 ppm higher •  Modal measurement is reliable

  7. NO2: Conclusion • To avoid significant systematic error due to reaction in the bag modal measurement is required • Modal measurement is almost as robust as bag measurement

  8. Validation N2O Measurement Only few labs have submitted data No measurements of two systems in parallel Data is not sufficient for validation but no open issues

  9. Validation NH3 Measurement Only few labs have submitted data Only few measurements of two systems in parallel, no correlation Data is not sufficient to close open issues

  10. Open issues for NH3 sampling and measurements In Situ extractive Approach to solve Sampling during engine off x xx  request to labs to collect data Lost sample x theoretical approach Go to diluted measurement?  open issue Addition of diluent x  diluent according spec for pure gases Calibration x Loss of NH3 in sample system x  best practice/literature Temperature of analyser (FTIR) x  technical discussion Temperature condition x  best practice/literature Temperature and material x  best practice/literature of sampling lines Filter material x  best practice/literature

  11. Validation of measurement of EtOH and Aldehydes No data from VP2 Additional measurement campaign necessary • At least two weeks, ca. sept. 2013 (depending on availability of instruments) • JRC will host (to be confirmed) • Instrument manufacturers methods: • AVL • Horiba • Innova (to be verified) • MAHA • Sensors • GC-Method • FTIR • Call for instruments (on CIRCA) • Vehicles: 2 different FFV, 2 Gasoline
