  2. Proposed 08/09 State Library Budget Maintenance of effort waiver for PLF – tied to amount of reduction to PLF Example 5% reduction to PLF overall = 95% maintenance of effort to qualify

  3. Impact of Governor’s Executive Order Layoffs 16 retired annuitants terminated 15 students working through contract terminated Salaries Employees who earn overtime - $6.55/hour, $262/week Employees who do not earn overtime - $11.38/hour, $455/week

  4. Possible Gates initiative • Increasing Internet Connectivity in Public Libraries • California identified as a possible pilot state • Gates seeking connectivity data at outlet (branch) level • Telephone survey launching fall 2008 • CSL will ask libraries to identify contact person • Be on alert for further information!!!
