  6. Goal: • Teaching Pickleball to the youth by • Introducing the game to: • educational institutions • churches • boys and girls clubs • kids camps

  7. Why do we do this? • To Develop uniformity in presenting pickleball • To Share best practices on curriculum • To Teach Physical Educators how to teach students

  8. Teach the Teachers And to Develop A pathway from grade school and high school to after school programs, juniors tournaments, league play, etc

  9. Tools for 2019 • Education Ambassadors in each Region • Newsletter and Videos • USAPA Play Book Development • (we currently have Education Ambassadors in 5 regions)

What does success look like • Get more schools, school districts, educators involved in pickleball • Teach them how to teach the game • Develop a Pickleball Guide Book (playbook) • Develop after school programs • (For every Educator we introduce pickleball to, • we can teach at least 30 students, and likely more).

  11. The Education Ambassador Ideally he or she is a physical educator or teacher Their Role: Create a team of volunteers to help teach Develop Contacts and tools to help connect with educational institutions To Assist in getting resources to educational institutions

  16. Summarized Curriculum The Southwest Region has developed a short program. It is attached in the handout and is age appropriate. Develop after hours classes, clinics, tournaments for kids.

  17. Funding Programs Beyond the Grants • Donations from Regional and Local Tournaments • Paddle Reclamation Program • Charity Drives from Clubs • PTA Drives • Charity Tournaments or Round Robins

  20. Paddle Reclamation Program These paddles were donated I remove the handle wrapping all the way to the bare handle I then expect it for any damage.

  21. Paddle Reclamation Program With a Mister Clean Scrubbing pad clean the surface to remove labels, names, phone numbers. I inspect the end cap and make sure it is secure and re-secure it if need or replace it from a damaged paddle.

  22. Paddle Reclamation Program Next, I re-tape the handle with electrical tape first and new grip second and finish with electrical tape around the edge to make it look better.
