  1. The God Of Second Chances

  2. Time of year for introspection

  3. I. As you are looking back evaluating your use of this past year, have you given thought to your spiritual life, to your relationship with God?

  4. Self-examination is a biblical mandate. II Corinthians 13: 5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

  5. Are we spiritually healthy? “I go to church.”

  6. Am I sufficiently occupied in God’s service ? - How much is enough ? - Am I surrendered ?

  7. Galatians 2: 20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. I Thessalonians 3: 12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread. ( Compare : I Timothy 5:8 )

  8. Matthew 6: 19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;21for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

  9. How does one evaluate his relationship with God? - Am I IN Him ? - Is He first ?

  10. Acts 4: 12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. Galatians 3: 26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

  11. Romans 8: 5-6 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, Compare : Col. 3: 1-4 ... Earthbound thinking

  12. Philippians 1: 21-24 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. 23But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. ( Can you sincerely pray forI Thes. 4: 13-18 ? )

  13. II. What if I fail the test ?

  14. No one totally passes the test. We all fall short and we all need to improve.

  15. Though we’ll all have defeats, we must all keep striving to achieve the goal of sanctification.

  16. Hebrews 12: 14 Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Sanctify : ( hagiazo) separate from profane things and dedicate to God

  17. II Corinthians 6: 17 “Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. “And do not touch what is unclean; And I will welcome you. Romans 6: 19 For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.

  18. Does this describe us ? Are we separated and holy ?

  19. If every member of the church was just like you have been this year : - What would this church be ? - What would it be in 100 yrs ? - Would it be growing ?

  20. Our God is loving, kind • and willing to give the • repentant another chance.

  21. God wants for you to succeed. He’s not looking for reasons to condemn.

  22. Ezekiel 33: 11 Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. II Peter 3: 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

  23. Acts 2: 37-38 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  24. Acts 3: 19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

  25. God giving second chances - Abraham - Moses - Samson - Jonah - John Mark - Peter

  26. IV. If you have not measured up to what YOU know you could do or could be for God ... “Failure is not final !!”

  27. God will give you another chance and another and another ....

  28. Ezekiel 33: 11 Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. God will save man from his sin, but not in his sin.

  29. I John 2: 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

  30. I Corinthians 10: 13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

  31. Every day is another chance to be better than the day before if you turn from the mistakes of the past

  32. God gave His Son to save you and Jesus is still working to keep you saved.

  33. There is no limit to what God can do with you. Ephesians 3: 20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

  34. Challenge : Make 2016 your greatest year in God’s service.

  35. Are you in Christ ? One must be IN Christ before Christ will work in him.

  36. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. I Corinthians 11: 26
