  2. Timeline • Original Village Plan consultation 2009 • World Record Postcards 2010 - £5k • Rushcliffe Borough Council 2012 - £20k (to be used by March 2014 or we lose it) • Notts. County Council 2013 - £50k (to be used by March 2014 or we lose it) • Planning application is currently in the process by Jan Pauley, Nottinghamshire County Council.

  4. Vision • By meeting identified need we will create an accessible and aestethically pleasing space for young people now and in the future and the wider community to enjoy which maintains Keyworths’ individual character

  5. Park • Size 68m x 25m – that is 10.4% of the total area • Equipment – Proludic have quoted and displays are theirs. Park Contd ./… • Location – identified in 2009 as part of original consultation. • Safe • Visible • Police approved (linked to teen shelter consultation) • Open access • Family oriented green area which is also free • Central area & utilising space • Promote healthy lifestyles • Young people having ownership of an area and feeling part of the community they live in • Promote play and decision making in our community’s young people.

  8. Consultation • 3 separate consultations have taken place • First in 2009 as part of Village Plan • Second in 2012 at Keyworth Show • Third June 2013 at South Wolds School* *Targeting the new intake at South Wolds who were 7 years old when the original consultation in 2009 took place.

  10. Funding • £75k funding secured • Total £121,354 Leaves a shortfall of £46,354. £60k is being applied for through Veolia to include CCTV, signage and additional items (if required such as bins) Closing Date is 12 July 2013 (Friday).

Moving the Village Forward Based on 2009 figures from RBC Wolds ward represents Normanton on the Wolds, Plumtree, Stanton on the Wolds, Widmerpool, Willoughby on the Wolds, Wysall and Thorpe in the Glebe. Figures on census show Willoughby on the Wolds having 178 occupants with 53 being 0-24 years Bearing in mind also there are 450 new homes to be built in Keyworth by 2026

  13. What we need from you…. • A comittment from Councillors ie a yes tonight • Ownership of the park post completion

Remember • In the Village Plan survey when young people were asked the following: • I feel my voice would be heard if I had something to say about Keyworth • 23.5% agreed or strongly agreed • 67% disagreed or strongly disagreed Young People are the future of Keyworth, let us show them that, not only are their voices heard, but are also acted upon.
