  2. Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they

  3. Acts 2:42-47 continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Background • Fellowship - A shared ongoing interaction which makes a contribution into each other’s lives. • Life in God meant to be bigger than me & mine • Meant to be lived in community of believers, called THE CHURCH • “Other than one small exception, the rest of the world is made up of others”

  5. Love One Another Deeply • 1 Peter 4:8-9 • Never heard someone say “stop loving me” • Be filled up first with God’s love • Commitment to love one another on deeper level • Love covers multitude of sins • Practice hospitality

  6. Sharpen Each Other Compassionately • Prov 27:17 • There is both a pleasure & an advantage to conversation • It’s abrasive in nature for both sides. • Means bringing correction, admonition • Reprove, rebuke and exhort 2 Tim 4:2 • Commit to tell the truth in love

  7. Build Each Other Up Intentionally • 1 Thess 5:11 • Edify or construct something in someone else. • “What I appreciate about you is…” • Spur one another to love & good works Heb 10:24-25 • Pride & insecurity stand in way of intentionality • Who needs a word of edification? • Practice it, then say it

  8. Conclusion • God wants us living in community • Who can I encourage today? • Is there someone we should invite over? • Who has a need that I am aware of? • Love one another deeply • Sharpen one another compassionately • Build one another up intentionally
