  1. Popular Myths About Studying MBBS Abroad

  2. Always prefer 6 year medical degree over 5 year degree because it is more credible. Medical curriculum is in English thus there would be no difficulty in understanding lectures. All foreign medical universities are MCI approved.

  3. Clinical experience is same in every country. Language of locals do not make a difference to students since course is in English. Location of medical college doesn’t make a difference to students.

  4. 6 year Vs 5 year degree • 6 year degree is neither MBBS nor MD. It is BSMD which includes 2 years of basic theory of science and 3 years of medical theory and 1 year of practical. • While 5 year degree is MBBS in India / Abroad or MD which dedicates complete 4 years for studying medical curriculum and 1 year for practical. Thus, any day 5 year degree is better than 6 year degree.

  5. Language in curriculum Vs. language of lectures Most of the universities have curriculum in English but lectures are bilingual i.e. lectures are delivered in two languages English and their local language. Thus, its very important to filter out bilingual universities and pick universities that conducts complete lectures only in English.

  6. Recognition of universities – Not every university is MCI approved. Its very important to check the status of university in MCI listing. Only those students can appear for “NEXT” who have completed their degrees from MCI approved universities.

Thus its very important to get clinical experience in the same country where do you want to practice medicine after completing your degree. Thus its always preferable to pick universities that offers clinical exchange program with your homeland.

  8. Language of locals does matter- Knowledge of medical professionals depend upon their capability to interact with patients and to understand their health issues but in countries where English is not popular among natives, its very difficult task to communicate with them and to understand their health issues. That is why always choose the university/ country that has English as a popular language.

  9. Location of Medical College is a valid concern- Number of patients visiting medical college entirely depends upon the location of Medical institute. If the medical institute is located far from the city, it will attract less no. of people and probably majority of rural patients would speak local language. thus, it is always advisable to pick university in Important cities or capital city of the country.
