CCPS & CFEA Create LMPC… • The Labor-Management Partnership Council (LMPC) utilizes interest-based problem solving, a collaborative process • LMPC created two committees to oversee the development of CAPE • Design Team - composed of 4 CFEA and 4 CCPS representatives, all certificated • Implementation Team - composed of 5 CCPS and 3 CFEA members

  4. CAPE Development… • Initiative established by LMPC • Delegated to two sub-committees: • Design Team - • Implementation Team • Initial design completed for Summer 06 • Ongoing development of implementation policies, procedures, and courses

  10. CAPE Structure… • Includes 4 tiers of coursework • Participants earn “CAPE Education Units” (CEUs) • 1 CEU is equivalent to 20 inservice hours • Each tier will include 15 CEUs (300 hours) • Tier completion will earn salary supplement

  11. CAPE Structure…. Tier 4 (15 CEUs) Tuition Salary Supplement 4 Tier 3 (15 CEUs) Tuition Tier 1 Salary Supplement 3 Tier 2 (15 CEUs) Tuition Salary Supplement 2 Tier 1 (15 CEUs) Tuition Salary Supplement 1

  12. Tier 1…. • 1 CEU in each required area: • Reading • ESOL • Leadership • Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment • Technology • Coaching and Mentoring • Other CEUs as electives

  13. CAPE Tuition… • Participants will pay tuition • Increases self-investment • Voluntary program attracts motivated participants • Tuition is set at $100 per CEU ($1500 per tier) - other fees may apply • Payroll deduction and credit card payments will be accepted

  14. CAPE Supplement… • Participants earn $1000 permanent salary supplement for each completed tier, up to $4000 for completion of 4 tiers • CAPE supplement is in addition to degree supplement and salary step

  16. CAPE Timeline… • Completion of Design and Implementation Process - January/February • Initial information rollout - March • Development of initial courses - Spring • Application/Enrollment - Late Spring • CAPE Opening - Summer 2006
