  3. Objectives • Demonstrate accurate safety techniques in the lab with 100% accuracy. • Identify the parts and different types of hammers with 80% accuracy. • Demonstrate proper use of a hammer in the lab with 100% accuracy.

  6. Safety • WEAR SAFETY GLASSES • Make sure handle of hammer fits tightly on head. • Use the right hammer for the job. • Replace loose or cracked handles. • Discard if the head becomes damaged (cracked, chipped, or mushroomed). • Always strike surface squarely.

  7. Hammer • Driving Tool- tool used to move another tool or object. • Rely on weight and speed (leverage)to provide force (work) to move an object when hit. • A hammer is an extension of your arm.

  10. Ball/ Straight/Cross Peen Hammer • Focus direction of metal flow. • Each peen has its own affect on movement.

  11. Blacksmiths Hammer • Multiple types of hammers used for the specific use of manipulating metal with heat and force.

  12. Engineer Hammer/ Drilling Hammer • Baby sledge hammer • A tool used for heavy hammering or demolition work.

  13. Body Hammer • Used mostly in auto detailing work with sheet metal. Can be used to get dents out or shape. • Used in conjunction with hand anvil.
