  1. Review of the 1st 3 Week Test

  2. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It was written in 1787. The father of the constitution is James Madison.

  3. The Federalist were the people who were in favor of the constitution. • The Anti-federalist were against the constitution because the constitution did not contain a bill of rights (the guaranteed rights of the people).

  4. In the constitution it states what the rights and powers of each branch (legislative, judicial & executive) of government has, however the membership of the president’s cabinet is not. • The membership of the cabinet members are a form of an unwritten custom.

  5. There are two different ways to amend the constitution which are formal and informal methods. • The formal method is where an amendment (a change) is made to the constitution. • The informal method is how the constitution is interpreted in today’s time.

  6. Everyone in the United States, including members of the government must follow the law. This is the rule of law concept.

  7. Federalism- a system of government in which power is divided (separation of powers) between a national (central) government and regional (local) governments.

  8. The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments of the US Constitution. It was ratified by the states in 1791. • The first continental congress was where the delegates of the colonies met to discuss the problem with Britain’s intolerable acts. • The first form of the US government was the Articles of Confederation, which failed. • The second continental congress was where the Declaration of Independence was approved and signed.
