  1. Satan 1 Peter 5:8-10

  2. 1 Peter 5:8-9 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

  3. Satan • 140+ verses in NT! • Powerful Being - Ez. 28; Rev. 12;1 Jn.5:19 • Our Mission Against Him: Mt. 16:18 KJV • A Wartime Economy • Can’t call “time out!” • Love vs. Hate; Falsehood vs. Truth.

  4. Satan • A Struggle for Power (1Jn.5:19 Mt.28:18) • Keep people from coming under God’s Leadership. • Disregards Free Will (2 Tim. 2:26) • Attacks dangerous believers (1 Pet. 5:8) • Hateful, Violent (John 10:10)

  5. Meeting His Attack • Self-Controlled and Alert 1 Pet. 5:8 • His attacks would be ineffectual! • Watch out for one another 1 Pet. 5:9 • Resistance 1 Pet. 5:9 • Prayer + Faith = Stand.

  6. The Promise 1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. • God will provide times of refreshment!

  7. Matthew 16:18 • "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. • KJV: “...the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” • 1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

  8. 1 John 5:19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. • Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me…”

  9. 2 Tim. 2:26 ...and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

  10. John 10:10 • The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

  11. Matthew 28:19-20 • “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  12. Ephes. 6:10-17 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes...Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

  13. 2 Cor. 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

  14. Questions Genesis 3:1-4 Now the serpent ...said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Distorts Denies Bad Memory Replaces

  15. John 13:35 • "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

  16. Matthew 18:19 • "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.

  17. Ephes. 4:26-27 • Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.

  18. Acts 20:29-30 • "I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; [30] and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

  19. John 8:44 • You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

  20. 2 Cor. 10:5 • We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ...

  21. 1 Tim. 4:1 • But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons...
