REQUIREMENT overview – cont’d • Business GPA requirement (must meet one): • Old standards: 2.50 in each core group and overall Business total • New standards: 2.50 overall BA total and all BA core & option grades C- or better • Bus discipline/option(s) complete? • Bacc Core complete? • Minor complete? (you check w/ dept) • Minimum credits: 180 total credits /60 upper division

  6. Misc. Requirements – may not apply to all • OFFICIAL transcripts for transfer credits/transfer degree must be at Office of Admissions. • Taking classes off campus last term? You must meet with a COB advisor. • Over 50% Business degree credits must be completed at OSU. • Over 50% Business option must be completed at OSU. • Accountancy: change your option to major before you apply for graduation (continued on next page)

  7. Misc. Requirements (cont.) • Deficient Foreign Language (DFL) requirement –You may have been admitted without the Foreign Language requirement. (See requirement details at: http://oregonstate.edu/admissions/firstyear/gen_requirements.html). If so, it becomes a graduation requirement.. • Want Bachelor of Arts? (not avail for Acct)– need both: • Two year proficiency in foreign language • Culture (either 10 wk abroad experience in non-English speaking ctry, OR 6 cr upper div culture courses related to language studied.)

  8. The University Audit • Online version available on Online Student Services. Printed copy available in 214 Bexl (must show photo ID). • Does not include currently enrolled classes. • It does not check most minor requirements. • Requirements marked “NOT MET” may be due to transfer classes or exceptions. • Using New Bus Core? This is not programmed into your grad audit most likely. • Check with your advisor if you have questions or think there are errors.

COMMON GRAD PROBLEMS • Synthesis Bacc Core: • Must have one course from each group (CGI & STS) • The two courses used to fulfill the Synthesis requirement may not be in the same department/discipline • Student didn’t check w/ minor dept • COB GPA requirement(s) not met • Student didn’t have official transcripts for transfer courses sent to Admissions

  10. GRADUATION vs. WALKING • Graduation is when you finish your last requirements. • Walking is when you go through the ceremony. • You do not have to participate in ceremony. • You must apply for graduation.

  11. The Diploma—how to get it • At the Commencement Ceremony • At the Registrar’s Office after your last term • By Mail (for a fee) • Note: Options and minors show up on transcript only.

  12. The Ceremony Sunday after finals week 2:00pm, Reser Stadium • Held only once per year. • Info mailed to you by Registrar in early April. Read it! • RSVP card for ceremony included in info packet. You must return card to Registrar to participate. • You CANNOT walk this June if graduating following fall. (continued on next page)

The Ceremony (cont.) • Mid-April – Commencement Countdown, MU Ballroom (cap & gown, invitations, rings, etc.) If you can't attend, you may obtain your items from the OSU Bookstore after the event. • No tickets needed for entry to stadium. • COB holds a drop-in reception the morning prior to the ceremony. You will receive an announcement in May.

  15. Check your BUS & ONID email !Students with audit problems will be contacted by OSU email shortly before their final term…but don’t rely on that. Check your own audit.Your education is your responsibility.
