  2. WEAK - Weak in faith, not weak in character, will-power Conscientious, lots of scruples; judging the “strong” STRONG- strong in faith more informed, knowledgeable NOT mature, not living in love self-centered, despised others caused others to stumble

  4. Ways to strengthen Christian fellowship What can we do to help the church grow in love, worship, and witness?

  5. Accept one another! Romans 14:1Accept anyone who is weak in faith, …. 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, … 15:7 Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ has accepted you, for the glory of God.

  6. Accept one another! Do not judge one another! Stay away from legalism. Relationship to God cannot be strictly measured by what a person does or does not do! God is the judge! (not me, not you)

  7. “Do not judge your brother” is often misunderstood, abuse, misused, taken out of context

  8. Romans 13:12 … So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

  9. Live under the Lordship of Christ! Don’t live for yourself “Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” (Rom 13:14)

  10. 14:7 For none of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself. 8If we live, we live to honor the Lord; and if we die, we die to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

  11. 6 The one who observes a special day, observes it to honor the Lord. The one who eats, eats to honor the Lord, since he gives thanks to God. And the one who does not eat, refrains from eating to honor the Lord; yet he, too, gives thanks to God.

  12. 10 … For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God." Philippians 2:10-11 at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, … and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  13. 10 …. For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11for it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God." 12So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

  14. Build one another up! encourage one another Don’t be a stumbling block!

  15. 13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.

  16. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. 20Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.

  17. Emphasize the important things in the Kingdom of God! Don’t major on the minors!

  18. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Righteousness Peace Joy in the Holy Spirit

  19. 1:5 through whom we received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, 16:25 … the preaching of Jesus Christ, …16:26 has now been disclosed and … made known to allnations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith

  20. What can we do to help our church grow in love, worship, and witness? 1. Accept one another! Do not judge one another! 2. Live under the Lordship of Christ! Don’t live for yourself! 3. Build one another up! Don’t be a stumbling block! 4. Emphasize the important things in the Kingdom of God! Don’t major on the minors!

  21. Rom 14:1 Accept anyone who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of arguing over differences of opinion. 2One person believes that he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3The person who eats any kind of food must not ridicule the person who does not eat them, and the person who does not eat certain foods must not criticize the person who eats them, for God has accepted him.

  22. 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? He stands or falls before his own Lord—and stand he will, because the Lord makes him stand. 5 One person decides in favor of one day over another, while another person decides that all days are the same. Let each one be fully convinced in his own mind:

  23. 6 The one who observes a special day, observes it to honor the Lord. The one who eats, eats to honor the Lord, since he gives thanks to God. And the one who does not eat, refrains from eating to honor the Lord; yet he, too, gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives for himself, and no one dies for himself.

  24. 8 If we live, we live to honor the Lord; and if we die, we die to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. 10Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God;

  25. 11for it is written, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God." 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

  26. 13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.

  27. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.

  28. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. 20Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.

  29. Philippians 2:10 at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, … 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
