United Nations • Security Council: 15 seats: 5 superpowers, 10 changing members, can use force. • General Assembly: All delegations of all countries, 191 seats, First Committee, Second Committee eg. Disarmement Committee, making sure countries pay. • Secretary General: does not interfere with resolutions, only advises, assists in solutions, does not have real power, gives advisory opinions.

Model United Nations • Pupils and students play at being General Assembly / committees. • Representing the position of another country, seeing the situation from both sides, a very relevant skill. • Being asked to be part of a certain delegation and trying to convince other delegations of your solution. You are willing to solve a problem, and you have some points to compromise on, but you have to take into consideration that in our country ...

  8. What does Global Warming mean to you? • Give the definition of Global Warming and learn this definition by heart. • Assignment: draw a personal list of personal daily actions and ask 2 people you know to add more ideas to your list.

  9. Extra Task • Divide the class into 10-15 groups • Every group represents a country in the world. Make sure all continents are included. • Write a paragraph on a solution to Global Warming. All groups appoint one speaker.
