  4. Reviewing and Improving Documentation Tools for IDS • Meeting of IDS Providers at DDA • Tuesday November 25th • 9:30 – 12:00

  5. IDS DSP Focus Group Highlights • What is relationship between IDS and Employment First? • What are expectations for working-age people receiving IDS? • How can DSPs make the activities related to employment “fun” for people so they aren’t “turned off” by the idea of going to work.

  6. IDS DSP Focus Group Highlights • Meeting at day program creates issues with participation – find other places to meet • People can be late for IDS • When people receiving service in 1:2, DSP must go ahead with day even if one person doesn’t arrive on time. • MTM can be up to an hour late • Best solution iswhen driver calls the DSP to find out where they are and brings the person to that location • Medical appointments can make people late • Issue with house staff only transporting people to day program (can we expect more?)

  7. IDS DSP Focus Group Highlights • Shadowing as part of initial orientation should be mandatory • IDS DSP must have opportunity to meet person, not just parents/guardian before first day of service • Back-up activities really need to be identified in advance – not just for weather but also to allow choice while making sure alternatives are well connected with the person’s goals for being in IDS.

  8. IDS DSP Focus Group Highlights • People who have done 1:1 in other services are well placed to become IDS DSPs. • IDS reduces problem behaviors otherwise occurring in day program or in 1:4 community based day model. • How can people with Medical or Behavioral 1:1 get access to IDS service?

  9. Medical 1:1 or Behavioral 1:1 • How can these people participate in IDS? • Some people have BSP that says the 1:1 must be residential staff • Some people have this court ordered so they are denied option to participate in IDS

  10. IDS DSP Training • Topics targeted for this year: • Facilitating relationships with community members and encouraging natural supports • Strategies for career exploration and encouraging interest in paid work among working-age IDS participants

  11. IDS DSP Training • How can we get training to IDS DSPs? Possible Options: 1. Offered in-person • Offered more than once • Is DDA best location for in-person training? 2. Offered as recorded on-line training • On demand availability – audio and slides • Quiz at end

  12. Policy Questions • Are meals included in the IDS rate? • What is expectation if an IDS participant wants to eat out as part of IDS service? • Other policy questions?

  13. IDS Focus Areas for CoP How to meet personal care needs in community How to address medication administration to prevent this from interrupting IDS service Identifying how to make authorizations more flexible and specific reasons to justify this Matching strategies –including method for sending match requests to Service Coordinators

  14. In-Person Meetings? • Do providers prefer to do monthly in-person meetings rather than these calls? • Possible December Dates: Monday December 1st or Wednesday December 3rd 10am-Noon DDA Office
