  1. Stanley and Livingstone in Africa Read Stanley and Livingstone in Africa on pages 662-665. Answer the three questions at the end under “Interpreting The Past”. After everyone is finished we will discuss the reading and questions.

  2. Directions: In groups of three or four write a script for a television documentary that explores the politics and life in Africa before, during, and after the European Imperialism. Scripts should include: A creative and appropriate title. Describe the settlement patterns, indigenous cultures, and European presence that existed in Africa prior to the Age of Imperialism. Explain the conditions, events and developments that made European domination of Africa desirable & possible. Analyze the scramble among European nations to establish colonies in Africa. Describe the impact of European colonization on Africa. Evaluate African efforts to resist imperialism. Analyze how the effects of imperialism continue to impact African societies.   3. Imperialism Project Beyond the items on the previous slide you also need to a minimum of 8 pictures. The entire script is due on Monday, March 21st You will have class time on Friday to work on your script. This project is worth 70 points.

  4. Brain Storming Topics With your group, take 5 minutes and list out some ideas about what you would include in your script. After 5 minutes is up, groups will share their list with the class. Hint: Think about what it would have been like if a documentary crew were following Livingstone on his adventures in Africa.
