About the OHCA • The Ontario Home Care Association is an organization of home health and social care service providers and serves as the voice of home care in Ontario • provide home care services throughout rural and urban Ontario. • providing high-quality, accessible health care for over 40 years to both government-funded home care programs and individuals.

  4. Services • They deliver : • Nursing care, • Home support services, • Personal care, • Physiotherapy, • Occupational therapy, • Social work, • Dietetics, • Speech language therapy and medical equipment in the home

  5. OHCA Strategic Goals • The goals of the Association continue to stand the test of time: • Representing Members Interests to Government • Building the Home Care Industry • Strengthening the Support Provided to Members

  6. A. Representing member interests • Promote opportunities for all members • Securing additional funding for individuals to receive care at home • Represent the home care perspective as regulatory changes are contemplated

  7. B. Building the home care industry • Promote quality metrics for home care providers through a client-centred lens • Promote and celebrate innovation of members

  8. C. Strengthening support to members • Communication • Establish strategic alliances • Education and information

  10. STRUCTURE • The membership of OHCA is comprised • 46 regular members & 20 associate members, including CCACs • According to 2009 survey, OHCA members 35,000 staff members serves the 3,00,000 ontarians

  11. The coordination/integration of home and community care requires: • Shared ownership of home and community care by all members of the care team • Shared knowledge, understanding and advocacy for the role and contribution of each member of the care team

  12. Effective working relationships among members of the care team • Information systems which link the members of the care team
