  4. Selection of contractors • No single list of approved contractors • Contractors usually on research database • Research often in teams, so scope for ECR involvement

  5. Roles played by ECRs • Full-time or part-time Research Assistants • Administrative roles – e.g. liaison with EOC • Drafting questionnaires & carrying out fieldwork • Drafting research reports

  6. EOC research reports • Accessible to a lay audience • Accurate and reliable • Evidence-based and referenced • Reflect current thinking • Well-written and selective • Executive Summaries required • Policy implications often included
