  1. Harold Holt 1908 - 1967

  2. Harold Holt was born on the 5th of August in Sydney, 1908.

  3. He lived in Stanmore and went to The Wesley Preparatory School in Melbourne. He had a wife named Zara and 2 daughters named Isabella and Rachel.

  4. Harold was a very athletic man and pushed his sporting career into the college in cricket and representing it in football and tennis. He was then elected for the Sports and social club.

  5. Harold was apart of the liberal party and in 1935 at the age of 27 he won the seat of Fawkner, in The House of Representatives and held that seat until 1949. He also Became Treasurer in 1958.

  6. Harold Holt became Prime Minister on the 26th of January, 1966 and stopped being Prime Minister on the 19th of December, 1967.

  7. Harold had quite a few political achievements such as being a Senior Cabinet Minister for many years, being Prime Minister for 22 months and achieved a controversial role in expanding Australian involvement in the Vietnam wars.

  8. Did Harold Holt die or did he disappear? One morning Harold Holt went for a swim at Cheviot Beach near Portsea in Victoria and was never seen again. We still don’t know what happened to him this very day. There are many theories including that he was murdered, abducted by a Chinese submarine, that he had drowned or even committed suicide. His body was never found.

  9. Interesting facts: He was Australia’s 17th Prime Minister. He held Office for 22 months. He was the 3rd Prime Minster to die in office. And the Australian slang term for someone disappearing or running away is that they have done the “Harold Holt, the Bolt”! By Gemma Major
