  3. Missing male, David Price, in his late 50’s, from Kentucky. Last seen on Sunday 10 August 2008 at the River Forks Inn in Drake, CO, where he was staying the prior two nights. The subject had mentioned his desire to climb a mountain in Colorado and collect a rock from the top, as memorabilia, and the nearby Palisade Mountain seemed an option. It is thought that the subject began climbing the southern side of Palisade on Monday 11 August from the Idylwilde rest area on Hwy 34 where his motorcycle was observed on Wednesday 13 August. Clothing description unknown, but possibly wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Unknown if he took any water, food or gear. photo from George Janson, COWG-TVCS and LCSAR

  17. Palisade Mountain -- view looking north from ICP on Thursday 14 August 2008 The find was made ~09:00 by Colorado Army National Guard using Kiowa helicopter ... they first caught a glimpse of bright blue and upon coming around saw an orange object ... then they saw the body. photo from George Janson, COWG-TVCS and LCSAR

  18. Can you see the LCSAR orange shirt marking the vicinity of the find? Subject's body is at the base of these trees, and he likely fell from somewhere on this rock face ... photo from George Janson, COWG-TVCS and LCSAR

  19. What the Kiowa crew likely saw first was the subject's bright blue beltpack, then they saw the package containing his orange rain parka ... View from an impact point of the body -- might be others higher up, but not accessible without using technical climbing gear ... photo from Todd Westfall, LCSAR

  20. This orange rain parka package is only about 4 inches square ... photo from Todd Westfall, LCSAR

  21. The face-right section of this rock band is the most likely path along which the body fell ... Subject's body is below lower left corner at the base of the spindly tree ... photo from Todd Westfall, LCSAR

  22. The recovery -- WAPA helicopter (Western Area Power Authority) with 100 foot long-line with weighted grab ring ... body now in basket litter on rock shelf ... Rotor clearance to rock face only about 40 feet ... fortunately winds were calm ... photo from Sarah Babbitt, LCSAR

  23. Connecting the long-line ... That grab ring is heavier than it looked! photo from Scott Evans, LCSAR

  24. "Free and clear to navigate!" First use of long-line for extraction by LCSO-ES and LCSAR ... Saved LCSAR about 5-6 hours of excruciating technical scree lowering down rockfall-prone chute .. photo from Todd Westfall, LCSAR

  25. LCSO-ES and LCSAR express their sincere thanks to CAP for providing aircraft and ground teams in support of this mission. photo from Steve Schneider, COWG-TVCS photo from Steve Schneider, COWG-TVCS
