  2. BALANCE The way the elements are arranged to create a feeling of stability in a work. Alexander Calder

  3. Symmetrical Balance The parts of an image are organized so that one side mirrors the other. Leonardo DaVinci

  4. Asymmetrical Balance When one side of a composition does not reflect the design of the other. James Whistler

  5. Radial Balance When elements of a design radiate out from a central point.

  6. CONTRAST A large difference between two things to create interest and tension. Salvador Dali Ansel Adams

  8. Movement The look and feeling of action to guide a viewer’s eye throughout the work of art. Vincent VanGogh
