Optional: What is the important action that needs to be taken in order to improve refereeing and the quality of your experience as a referee in the VJBL • - I havent been evaluated at all this year except of course at the Junior Classics. But I dont want to have to wait for Classics to find out how I can improve. • - Travel: in the west associations are a min 30mins apart, and when asked to ref at places such as Sunbury and Geelong the travel adds up over a season, I don't think it's fair that travel is only paid over 100kms, as opposed to the branches in the east which are very close to each other its a lot easier to travel, entice more referees to join the panel. Also travel should be from your house not from venue to venue. • - evaluate referees. (ive had 2 formal evaluations besides the classic in a 4 year period) • - It is not fair to evaluate a referee after doing 2 games during the last game when he /she is exhausted. • - I would like to be evaluated as I cant improve if I dont know what I need to improve on. .... • - As a first-year member of the Junior Panel I feel that everything is run very smoothly, especially the rostering system/organisation. However, after having refereed around 15-20 VJBL games so far, I have only ever been critiqued on one game!

Optional: What is the important action that needs to be taken in order to improve refereeing and the quality of your experience as a referee in Big V • - Referee Coaches: I think that we should be able to communicate with the referee coaches in conjunction with the commissioner. Also more education and mentoring for referee coaches so they are on the same page and giving the same scores. • - more consistent reff coaches • - All the referee coaches need to be on the same page so we are getting consistent feed back witch speeds up our improvement and enforces the right messages. The scoring criteria need to be more clearly defined • - Referee coaches should provide positive feedback not to focus solely on calls missed or in error. Identify areas of improvement not just mistakes. Scores in some cases do not reflect the spoken feedback. • - I wouldn't mind to referee on Sat. and Sun., but if there is a way to avoid receiving 2 games on the same day in this level. Usually, man's game is the 2nd game, so it's difficult in terms of physical and mental(concentration on the game).

Optional: What is the important action that needs to be taken in order to improve refereeing and the quality of your experience as a referee in SEABL • - Transparent effort by the league in protecting the interests of the officials, and not only concerned with the interests of the teams. • - Been my first season on SEABL, i have been enjoying it very much. Recieving feed back on my games i have only had one. So i find that hard to learn of them even though i get a copy of the game. • - The rostering system needs some work, particuarly when it comes to mens games. It is hard to gain experience or step up, particuarly if some officials haven't had a mens game for 2 years, yet doing well in Big V • - Referee coaches need to have a set of competencies as it is only their perception on how an official does a game and the ref coaches need to be on floor level to view it as a ref would and to go back to videos to ping some one for a call or to find errors that they didnt pick up during the game
