  2. 2010-2011 Program Goals • Program Goals • 70% of students enrolled in OTA program will progress through the program without interruption. • OTA graduates pass rate on the National Board of Certification Examination will meet or exceed the national average. • 80% of graduates will be employed in traditional or non-traditional wellness or health care settings 6 months post graduation. • New graduates of the OTA program will rate the program’s effectiveness on an average score of “3” as measured by the Graduate Survey. • 100% of OTA faculty will be rated as “Good” or above by students on the Faculty Evaluation Survey. • Job technical skills will be rated at “3” or above by employers of OTA program graduates. • Work place behaviors will be rated at “3” or above by employers of OTA program graduates

  3. NBCOT Exam Results • 2007 – 2009: Three Year Totals • Number of graduates = 25 • Number of first-time NBCOT test takers = 24 • Number of first-time takers who passed = 24 • Percentage of first-time takers who passed = 100 %

  5. Class of 2010-2012 • 46 applicants submitted • 35 accepted as complete applications • 20 selected for enrollment Fall 2010

  6. Current Total Enrollment in OTA Program • 2nd year students – 16 • 1st year students - 20

  7. 2010-2011 OTA Degree Plan Update • Neurology Updated • Summer 2010 – first class with Lab component • OTHA 1161 • Pre-Clinical component – ongoing assessment on structure on use of class/clinical hours • Includes skill re-assessment to ensure competence prior to physical disabilities clinical placement (vital signs, transfers, body mechanics, MMT, goniometry, etc.) • Initial student reports - very positive • Fall 2010 – redesign of FWI

Current Advances & New Ideas • Spring 2010 Schedule Revisions: Update • OTHA 1162 – 1st level I fieldwork experience(pediatrics) • Change from 4 half day field experiences to 2 full day experiences • Schedule revised in response to fieldwork educator feedback • Intended outcomes: • Increase availability of pediatric clinical instructors • Improve student experience (see a full day as opposed to only selected components) • Completed change this past Spring with positive feedback from students and clinicians.

Current Advances & New Ideas • Development on new areas for clinical sites: Traditional and Non-Traditional • Big Sky Pediatrics: Pediatric music, yoga • Ride on Center for Kids: “ROCK” • Hippotherapy • Aquatics • Pilates • Pain Management • Wellness Centers • Women’s Shelters • Homeless Shelters

Challenges • Retention: Attrition report? • College-wide Student Success Initiative: Survey ends October 29, 2010. • All Faculty and students encouraged to participate • Tutoring program: Melanie’s new position will be supporting our tutoring options for students with needs • NoelLevitz: College Student Inventory. Effort to identify potential barriers to success in the program. • Fieldwork Commitments • Have sufficient number of sites; lack of commitment from those sites to accept students on a consistent basis
