  1. RENEWABLE ENERGY TRAIL

  2. Welcome to the Judson ISD • RENEWABLE ENERGY TRAIL! • Begin Here: • Come join ZAP us as we tour our school district and experience the wonders of solar energy. Begin with a stop at Judson Middle School and sit in our Outdoor Solar Classroom and learn about: • The sun and it’s path across the sky during different times of the year • How we harness the power of the sun to produce clean, reliable energy • Learn about Photovoltaic (PV) systems and their components

  3. JUDSON ISD LEADS THE WAY! • As the nation’s demographics are shifting and now most children under the age of one are minorities, it is critical that we close the gap in the number of minorities who seek solar career opportunities. Women and minorities make up 70 percent of college students, but only 45 percent of undergraduate STEM degree holders. This large pool of untapped talent is a great potential source of STEM professionals.

  4. STEM • Science-Technology-Engineering-Math • All 4 disciplines play a vital role in alternative energy technology • Renewable energy takes a lead role in Texas • Solar jobs grow by over 13.4% in 2012 • Average entry level PV installer starts at $34,040.00 per year • Occupations include: physicists, material scientists, engineering technicians, computer software developers, • semiconductor processors, glaziers, welders, machine setters, • plumbers, electricians, etc. • All 4 disciplines play an important part
