  4. Example 1 • Other teaching tools: textbooks, and the basic blackboard. • Video is a relatively new option for the language teacher. • One technique is silent viewing. The students view a sequence, for example of a couple checking into a hotel or ordering a meal in a restaurant, and them attempt to generate an appropriate dialogue for the scene. Example 2 • Teaching ESL in a non-English speaking country • Keep students in touch with English • First asked students to bring in a recorder and a song; • Second put some blanks in the lyrics on the tape and let them take the copies home try to listen to that song anywhere possible. • Then asked students bring it in in the following week with the blanks filled in.
