  2. Introduction A Burrowing Owl are named because they live in holes dug out by other animals they are called Burrows. Burrowing Owls are mainly found in North America , they are also one of the smallest owls in the world.

  3. Physical Description Burrowing owls have long legs to dig. Burrowing owls have yellow eyes, on top of their yellow eyes they have white “eyebrows”. Female and male burrowing owls are both similar in size. Male Burrowing Owls are mostly covered with brown fur, they also have white spottings on their chest and wings.

  4. Diet They have night vision to hunt down prey such as insects and small animals. When they spot prey, they will swoop down on the prey with lighting speed. Although Burrowing Owls are a type of bird, it sometimes run on ground to catch prey! Burrowing owls are very small because they steal owlets from other nests to eat!

  5. Habitat The Burrowing owls live in the rainforests in north America,theMissipi, Florida and the carriabean. Burrowing Owls have disappeared from most of their historic range.

  6. Population Experts estimate that only 10000 burrowing owls are left in the wild. Most burrowing owl chicks are killed and eaten by other animals. The Burrowing Owl have many predators such as eagles, hawks and falcons.

  7. Conclusion We should protect them by creating more conservation programmes, we should also stop hunting them . After all we do not want Burrowing owls to be extinct like dodo birds .
