  4. That’s a Lot • The $180 covers: • All meals except lunch on the way there • Warm dorms • 5-6 classes by professionals with great equipment • Comfortable bus!

  6. Scholarships • Scholarship are available • Thanks to PTSA • Students must fundraise or contribute some amount towards the trip

  7. Paperwork, Paperwork, Paperwork • We need your signed paperwork: • District Authorization • Parent Agreement • Student Agreement • WR Child Liability • Health Form • Scholarship Form TURN IN ASAP

  8. Tracking Sheet • Shows current balance • Scholarships • Paperwork • If you have a negative balance that means we owe you money. • This can be applied to Europe for next year!

  9. What to Expect • “Class time” • Free time • Meal time • Dress warm and in layers! • Electronics

  10. “Class time” • Classes are interactive (some inside and outside learning for each) • Including: • Trees & Keys • Superior View Hike/Snowshoe • Ojibwe Heritage • Birds • Rock Climbing • Professional and Engaging Instructors

  11. Free Time • Not much • Between classes and meals • Evening • Gift Shop will be open one time for us • $40 for hoodies, most stuff under $20

  12. Meal Time • Delicious & Nutritious • Set time • No food in dorms • Allergy/Special Diets • Students help serve food

  13. Sample Daily Schedule • 7:30-8:15 Breakfast • 8:30-11:30 Class • 12-1pm Lunch • 1:15-4:15 Class • 5-6 Dinner • 6:15-8:45 Evening programming • 9-9:30 Campfire • 9:30pm – 6am Quiet Hours

  14. Dress Warm & Layers • It will be cold! • Insulated boots • Wolf Ridge has some really nice boots you can borrow • Wear multiple layers – as the day warms up you can take a layer off!

Electronics • We allow electronics on the bus ride • Electronics MUST be turned in while getting off the bus • Electronics will be returned when we board the bus home • Students caught with electronics at Wolf Ridge will not get them back until we are at Sanford. • This includes cell phones, iPod’s, iPad’s, kindles, etc.

  16. Academics • Sanford teachers will incorporate Wolf Ridge learning into their curriculum before and after the trip • Reflective Writing • Wolf Ridge teaches to the MN Standards • Science • Social Studies

  17. Fun • Students should have fun • Making new friends • Strengthening friendships • Interacting with Sanford Staff in a different environment

  18. Dorms • Students will stay in a dorm room with bunk beds. • Rooms hold 4-6 students • Students will get to help choose their roommates • Room assignments and curfew will be enforced.

  19. Learning Groups • Students divided into groups of around 15 • At least 2 adults per group (1 staff and 1 parent chaperone) • Learning Groups will be assigned by Sanford • No changes to Learning Groups

  20. Parent Chaperones • We need about 13 parents to step up • Pay what you can $10-180 • Spend time with your child (or embarrass them!) • Without the proper number of Chaperones Wolf Ridge won’t let us participate in activities.

What to Bring Clothing • Bring plenty of dry clothes – we will be outside getting wet. • Make sure your name is on your stuff! • Tennis or hiking shoes • One pair other shoes • Warm jacket • Sweaters • Changes of outer clothing • Changes of under clothing • Warm winter jacket • Two pairs long underwear • Hats and 2 pairs mittens • Several pairs of socks (4-5 pairs) • Snowboots*WR will have some if needed • Personal Gear • Sleeping bag and pillow (we will have a limited supply of sleeping bags) • Towel, soap and shampoo • Toothbrush and toothpaste • Pajamas and slippers • Medications (must be given to Mr. Cross or other staff) • Writing materials • Water bottle • Optional Personal Items • Flashlight • Camera • Store money (Only a small amount) • Money for lunch in Duluth ($5-10) • Sunglasses • Alarm clock

  22. What NOT to Bring • iPods or MP3 players (can be used only on bus and then are turned in to staff) • Electric appliances (hair dryers, curling irons, etc.) • Chewing gum • Alcohol or drugs • If you have batteries for your camera you will have to bring used batteries home • Snacks are not allowed in the dorms

  23. Sleeping Bags • Sanford will have a limited supply of extra sleeping bags for students who need them.

  24. Other Gear • Sanford and Wolf Ridge both have a VERY limited supply of gloves, hats, and coats. • Wolf Ridge has some winter boots available for students who need them.
