  1. Vision Night 2013

  2. Why have a Vision Night ? • Because we have no immediate plans for expansion. • Because we have no long term goals. • The pace of our present strategy will miss a generation of lost people and leave most of us out of the picture.

  3. Why have a Vision Night ? • Our present facilities are to crowded, we reach people but cannot hold them. • We continue at the same levels even after periodic growth spurts. • We are plateaued in growth and have reached a growth ceiling.

  4. Why Start New Bible Study Groups 1. New groups create new fellowship patterns and can thus move a church from an inward focus to an outward focus.

  5. Those who are in these groups regularly are more likely to share the gospel with someone than other church members. Group members share with people how to become a Christian 2.30 times in a six-month period, versus 0.98 times for other church members.

  6. 3. Those who are in groups are similarly more likely to invite an unchurched person to church than other church members (3.18 times in the last six months versus 1.24 times).

  7. 4. People who spend time in the Bible are most likely to show a number of signs of spiritual growth. Groups add at least a third opportunity to study the Bible, in addition to personal study and hearing the preaching of the Word.

  8. 5. Members who are active in starting new groups are less likely to be a divisive force in the church. They are too busy doing good things with their groups.

  9. “Law of the Minimum” Good loving Fellowship Good Leadership Good Teachers Sunday School Attendance Space If one growth factor is deficient, growth is limited, even if all other vital factors are adequate. Growth is improved by increasing the minimum factor. Church Attendance Justus von Liebig Liebig’s Barrel 1873

  10. Because The church to population ratio is declining rapidly. In 1900, there were 27 churches for every 10,000 Americans. In 1950, there were 17 churches for every 10,000 Americans. In 2000, there were 12 churches for every 10,000 Americans. In 2004, there were 11 churches for every 10,000 Americans.

  11. If the current trend for church attendance continues in America, by 2050 only 11.7% of America will attend church. The Barna Group reports that the number of unchurched adults has more than doubled from 1991 to 2010.
