What about individuals who hold instructional certifications but have different roles than a classroom teacher? • PDE is developing evidence statements/examples for the following instructionally certificated educators: • Gifted Teachers • Special Education Teachers • ESL Teachers • Reading Specialists • Early Childhood and Early Intervention Teachers • Career Technology Education Teachers • Speech Language Pathologists • School Librarians

  9. How will instructional consultants/coaches, co-teachers, special education case-managers be evaluated? • If you are working under an instructional certification in the Commonwealth you will be evaluated utilizing the Framework for Teaching. • The Department recognizes that evidence for ALL the components in domains 2 and 3 classroom environment and instructional components might be difficult to collect for individuals who hold these types of jobs; nonetheless, components of those domains should be evident in the practices of those who hold these certifications.

  10. The Elective Portion of Teacher Effectiveness Measuring Student Performance for Teachers in Tested and Non‐Tested Grades and Subjects

Student Learning Objectives (as demonstrated through:) • District Designed Measures and Examinations • Nationally Recognized Standardized Tests • Industry Certification Examinations • Individual Teacher Developed Examinations • Student Projects Pursuant to Local Requirements • Student Portfolios Pursuant to Local Requirements

PA’s SLO Template • Focuses on Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) that are aligned to PA Standards • Makes a direct connection to the curriculum framework • Measures student performance through student growth or mastery • Guides the data collection process • Includes a teacher effectiveness measure

  13. Inter-Rater Reliability Teachscape’s Framework for Teaching Proficiency System (FfTPS) Program Components • Consists of three parts: • Observation • Scoring Practice • Proficiency Test – approximately 7.5 hours
