  3. REMINDERS SEPT 30: Artery/Art Center show. Publicize for this event! Flyers? OCT 2: Festifallvoluntters needed OCT 2: Panhellenic Council Organizations Fair in the Great Hall. 7-9pm. Volunteers needed to sit at table and talk about Kappa Pi. OCT 10: Emily Strader will come to talk about career opportunities with Kappa Pi. Please make plans to attend this, as we are very lucky to have her. OCT 14: Second Friday Artwalk and reception for the Artery. This is a REQUIRED event.

POTENTIAL LOCAL VISITS NASHER: THURSDAY OCT 13, 7pm 7 PM Meet the Guerilla Girls in “full jungle drag,” in a performance revealing the thinking and process behind their posters, books, billboards and actions. Their work is part of The Deconstructive Impulse. Mirror Image: Women Portraying Women NCMA: Through November 27, 2011 Mirror Image presents women, from youth to old age, in painting, video, photography, and sculpture from the 1970s through the present. Artists from the NCMA’s collection include Margaret Sartor, Maud Gatewood, elino’Haraslavick, and Caroline Vaughan. Local artists include Stacy Lynn Waddell, Rebecca Fagg, Katie Claiborne, Emily Scott Beck, Linda Foard Roberts, Mary Shannon Johnstone, Roxana Perez-Mendez, Cristina Córdova, and Susan Harbage Page. ARTIST TALK NASHER: THURSDAY OCT 27, 7pm English filmmaker and artist John Akomfrah, who has directed 14 films since 1986, will talk about his work. Co-sponsored by Duke’s Center for Documentary Studies.

ASHEVILLE • November 4-5th • Let me know by the next meeting (Oct. 10th) if you would like to come • Hiking: Trails along the Blue Ridge Parkway • Art Museums: Joseph Albers at the Asheville Museum of Art • The Folk Art Center located on the Blue Ridge Parkway: Crafts. Also there is an access to a trail here! • Options: Leaving early on Saturday morning or staying the night on Friday • Staying the night: • Hotels as low as $30 a night per person • Prospect of staying in a cottage. As low as $300 a night • Camping? This could be too cold in early November
