  7. GETTING STARTED • STEP 1 • Log into NHSN, then… • CHOOSE “HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL SAFETY” module (& CLICK Submit)

  8. This Screen Will Appear: It is similar to Your Other One That You Are Used To! IGNORE MY ALERTS! THIS WILL NOT SHOW UP UNTIL AFTER YOU ADD THE HPS MODULE!

  9. 3 ADD 1 2 Step 2: 1. FIRST: CLICK ON “FACILITY” 2. THEN: CLICK ON “ADD/EDIT COMPONENT” 3. THEN: GO THROUGH AND ADD YOUR FACILITY INFORMATION

  10. Step 3 ADD REPORTING PLANS FOR JAN-APR & CHECK THAT YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING ANY MODULES (CMS requires influenza reporting as of January 1, 2013, however we are not required to report in NHSN until MAY 2013)

  11. BEFORE STEP 4, PRINT OUT FACILITY AND FLU SURVEY FORMS BEFORE FILLING IN!! …THERE IS A LOT OF INFORMATION ON THESE THAT YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK UP!

  12. ADD SURVEY: FLU 1. FILL IN THE FLU SURVEY AND SAVE: Choose “SURVEYS” Choose “FLU” Choose “ADD”

  13. ADD SURVEY: FACILITY 1. FILL IN THE FACILITY SURVEY AND SAVE: CHOOSE “SURVEYS” CHOOSE “FACILITY” CHOOSE “ADD”
