The shielding / protecting power of faith • “thureon” – a large shield (as door-shaped) • The Roman shield was uniquely beneficial when the Romans were approaching the enemy’s wall. • “able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one”, v. 16 Eph 6:16 ~ above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. NKJV

Jesus put his full weight / everything that was necessary, on the Father and did not give in.

The Shield of Faith • If I am willing to confidently affirm my trust in what God has said, Satan has no reply. • “This is what God says … this is how God helps … this is what God promises … this is what God expects of me” • Darts / Arrows are deflected! • Too often is found rationalization or excuses as to why God’s word does not apply to me.

  12. The Shield of Faith • Prov 30:5-6 ~ Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. • 1 John 5:4 ~ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
