  1. How Do I Use This Data? Knightdale High School Thursday, August 23, 2012 Elements Reporting Information Session Reviewing the Data!

  2. Now that we have a full year’s of data in Elements, we can begin to look at that data and make decisions on how best to improve student performance. Finding the Data

  3. One of the best ways to get the student‘s performance information back to them is not through a report but a print option found on the Dashboard. It shows correct answers and can be saved as an electronic file. Print Selected

  4. Student names have been removed. By selecting a student in the Dashboard, the Print Selected option will be available. Print Selected

  5. The remaining presentation will focus on reporting from the Data Utilization option. Finding the Data

  6. First, select the specific information you want to view. Carefully selecting the correct information will lay the foundation to precise reporting. Review The Results

  7. Click the test percentage for that individual student. Then select the Test Summary option. Jerry Lewis Test Summary

  8. Jerry Lewis When to use this report: This report is a quick snap shot of the students results by objective. This could be used to provide the student with a visual representation of their proficiency on each standard/objective. Test Summary

  10. Jerry Lewis When to use this report: This report displays the answer details for each student and question on the assessment. This allows the teacher to see visually which questions were not mastered by the students. Distractor Analysis

  11. The next three reports are all accessed from the same initial location found under the Data Utilization option. The “At Risk”, “Proficiency Report”, and “Progress Report” are general reports which allow the educator to focus on student performance in their classrooms and identify which areas may need different strategies to improve student learning.   14. When to use this report: Use this report to identify which students are not proficient in a specific standard/objective. A quick glance will give the instructor an idea which standards/objectives are more critical based on the number of total students in each section. Jeff Jefferson Joan Jett Tom Turkey At Risk

  16. When to use this report: This report is useful to identify proficiency within a number of different groups. One of the main elements on this report is the total students proficient total. Of significant interest is the PINK band which are those students almost making proficiency. Proficiency Report

  19. The following three slides show all possible options for the previous three report types. They are included only as an aid in understanding the details of each report. Detail of Report Options

This report can be printed or sent to Word for additional formatting options. • The name of the report is here. • This report also has the option of printing with a page break. • Each student within the scope is listed here. • The number of standards of concern for each student is recapped. • The standard nomenclature and text is displayed. • A recap of the scope criteria and report name is here. • The students overall performance for this standard is here. This report lists students that took the test and shows the standards for which each student did not meet expectation. They now have a definitive list of areas where each student needs additional instruction. This report is available through the Teacher Portal. 7 4 5 8 6 1 2 At Risk Standards by Student 3

This report can be printed or sent to Excel for further data manipulation using these buttons. • The Criteria Box recaps the title of the report and criteria you chose to build the report. • You can chose to display proficiency rate, average score, or a combination of both. • Each AYP sub-group has it’s own column. There is a cumulative column as well. • Each of the levels will be displayed here so that you can easily see what percentage of each group fell into each of the levels set up by the district. • This is the proficiency rate for each AYP group within the scope of your criteria. Proficiency is the sum of meets and exceeds within this table. • Overall student counts and score percentages are located here for each group. By clicking on the percentage score or student count it will take you to a detailed list of all included in the aggregation. This report will quickly show you the percentage proficient for each of the AYP subgroups you are tracking. Proficiency is calculated by combining the levels at and above the district setting for mastery. The power of this report is the calculation is automatic and you can display proficiency rates and/or average scores. You can exclude groups that fall below the minimum number needed to count towards AYP and you can narrow the scope to include a particular domain tested.   22. This report compares the results of two or more tests and displays those results for each of the classes in the scope of the criteria selected. Administrators can quickly determine the gains in standards mastered for each class. The legends; Performance Level Key and Performance Level Distribution can help determine what level the percentage score translates into and what percentage of classes met expectations and what percentage did not. This report is available in both the Teacher Portal 3 4 6 1 5 • This report can be printed or sent to Excel for further data manipulation using these buttons. • The version of the report displaying is here. • The Criteria Box recaps the title of the report and criteria you chose to build the report. It also displays the high and low score, the Median score and the Mean. 2 7 • Clicking the box next to Performance Level Key will toggle on and off the legend bars beneath the overall score percentage bars. Using the Performance Level Distribution and Performance Level Key will display a legend that can help you determine what percentage of students in the school met expectations and which did not. Just hover over the legend bar to display the exact percentages. • Each test in the criteria scope is color-coded for easy dissemination. • The cumulative score for all is displayed here. • Each class name will be displayed on the left side of the chart Progress Report Detail

  25. This report is found on the WCPSS Elements Blackboard 9 site. It is the Report Card by Standard for Postassessments. Locate the standard/objective then identify a school who has been successful in that area. The school names display in this column. WCPSS Report Card by Standard

  26. Using the form, you can enter your information along with the information found on the Elements Blackboard site.
