  4. Location • Temperate rain forests are located on; • The west coast of north America • The south east coast of south America • The north coast of new Zealand • The north east coast of Tasmania

  5. physical characteristics • High humidity • A lot of water • Cool temperatures • 5-6 feet of rain per year. • Rich soil

  6. Trees: Sitka spruce Douglas fir Western hemlock Western redceadar Big leaf maple Vine maple Red alder Bushes; Salmonberry Huckleberry Other: Mosses Lichens Flowers Red columbine Pacific bleeding heart Queen’s cup Bunchberry Major plant life

  8. Other information • Most animals live on the forest floor • 3 layer of forest ; ground, under story, and canopy. • No natural poisonous snakes • Faster recovery from destruction than a regular rain forest.
