  2. Recreation of a digital image onto paper, plastic, or any other substrates by propelling ink droplets is known as Inkjet Printing. An Inkjet Printer is the most common type of printers which come in various categories from small inexpensive models to high-grade expensive professional models. Originated in the 20th century, the concept of inkjet printing is mainly introduced by Epson, Hewlett-Packard, and Canon.

  3. A typical inkjet printer can produce a print out with a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch. Some high-tech models are capable of giving a resolution of 600 dpi or more. It comprises a print head with numerous tiny nozzles called jets. With the movement of paper from the print head, the nozzles spray ink onto it which results in the formation of characters and images.

  4. Technologies Used in Inkjet Printing • Continuous inkjet (CIJ): This method is widely used for making and coding of products and packages commercially. In this method, a high-pressure pump directs liquid ink through a microscopic nozzle and gun body from a reservoir which creates a continuous stream of ink droplets via the Plateau-Rayleigh instability. For creating an acoustic wave, a piezoelectric crystal is used as it vibrates within the gun body causing the stream of liquid to break into droplets at regular intervals. It can deliver from 64,000 to 165,000 droplets per second. • Drop-on-Demand inkjet (DOD): This method is further divided into thermal DOD and piezoelectric DOD. Thermal DOD inkjet printers are mostly used by consumers including Canon, Hewlett-Packard, and Lexmark. Piezoelectric DOD printers are mostly used in most commercial and industrial sectors. Epson and Brother produce this kind of printers.
