  1. Charities Fortnight at Kingsmead WimbleburyHouse Monday 4th February - Friday 15th February 2013

  2. What is Charities Fortnight ? Charities Fortnight is our chance to stop and think about our House Charities. We can reflect on what we have done so far this year… We can reflect on what we can do for the rest of the year... All societies and religions in the world recognise the value of helping others.

  3. The Importance of Charity Charity means “generousactions or donationstoaidthepoor, ill, orhelpless”. Despite the problems around us, we are fortunate to live in a country as wealthy as Britain. If we can give a little of our wealth to others, we can make a huge difference. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK “Charity begins at home, but does not end there”. Thomas Fuller

  4. Kingsmead & the Global Community Kingsmead Technology College supports Compassion UK - a Christian charity with bases around the world This involves making a donation to sponsor a child so that they can be educated and lifted, along with their family, out of poverty. WimbleburyHouse sponsors Chandawho lives in Bangladesh. Your House funds Chanda through the donations you make on Own Clothes Days. The next Own Clothes Day is coming up soon - at the end of Charities Fortnight on: FRIDAY 15TH FEBRUARY Click on the above image to watch a video about Compassion UK

  5. Kingsmead & the Local Community Kingsmead Technology College supports local charities that support people in the community directly around us. WimbleburyHouse sponsors Breathe Easy in Cannock which is a charity that cares for people who are suffering from lung-related diseases. You have raised funds and awareness for this charity through donations, assemblies, the Xmas Fayre and House Projects. The Summer Fayre on Saturday 6th July - which also celebrates our school’s 75th year - will give you a chance to raise lots of money for Breathe Easy. Click on the above image to watch a video about the work of Breathe Easy / the British Lung Foundation. Click the lungsto visit the Breathe Easy website

  6. This Week… in Charities Fortnight… Can you think about the people you are supporting through your charity donations… Can you think about the ways you can support the charities further… Can you think of plans to raise funds for your charities… Can you think of plans to raise awareness of your charities… As a tutor group you can think up great things…

  7. This Week… in Charities Fortnight… SMALL STEPSTO TAKE: Tell your family about the charities that WimbleburyHouse supports. Bring in your money for Own Clothes Day on Friday 15thFebruary. Look at the Compassion UK Display outside Resources. BIGGER STEPS TO TAKE: Come up with a publicity poster for one of your House charities (prize for the best one). Make plans to raise funds for Breathe Easy - both now and for the Summer Fayre.
