ORIGIN German automaker and his grandson Adam Opel along with others took part in experiments with rocket propulsion for cars and earned the nickname “Rocket Fritz.” The first rocked-propelled car, Opel-RAK 1, was tested by Kurt von Opel on March 15, 1928. It achieved a top speed of 47 mph. Then again on May 23, he reached a speed of143 mph in the improved version of the original rocket-propelled car, the RAK 2.
