  2. QUESTION How many lemons light up a light bulb? MENU

  3. HYPOTHESIS We think it will take 6 or 9 lemons to light up the bulb. MENU

  4. MATERIALS • 12 lemons12 copper nails or screws 5 cm long • 12 zinc nails or screws or galvanized nails 5 cm long • Copper wire • Wire stripper cutter • Light bulb MENU

  5. PROCEDURE 1. Either roll the lemons on the table gently or squeeze the lemons with your hand gently. DO NOT BREAK THE LEMONS OPEN. You want to get the juice flowing inside the lemons. 2. Put 1 zinc nail and 1 copper nail in each lemon. The nails need to be 2 inches apart. Don't put the nails all the way through the lemons. 3. Have your teacher cut the wires into many pieces. 4. Start with one lemon. Wrap one wire around the zinc nail and wrap the other wire around the copper nail. Then, touch the wires to the light bulb to see if it lights up. MENU

  6. PROCEDURE 5. Now try it with two lemons. Wrap the wire from the zinc nail to the other zinc nail in the second lemon . Do the same with the wire on the copper nail in the two lemons . Touch both ends to the light bulb and see if lights up. 6. Do this with three lemons , four lemons, five lemons, etc., until the light bulb lights up. 7. Keep doing this with all12 lemons. MENU

  9. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION How many lemons did it take to make the light bulb light up? Answer: None Explain: The lemons in Colombia do not have enough acid to make energy. We could try different ways to organize the lemons and cables. Or try different types of lemons or oranges. MENU
