  3. Proposed Hospital • 75-bed psychiatric hospital to be located in Woodbridge at 3321 Noble Pond Way • To provide inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment to patients of all ages • Specialized services • Partial hospitalization/Intensive outpatient

  6. III. The Needs in Prince William County • “The shortage of beds, inequitable distribution of existing beds, and lack of specialized care in the planning district ignores the behavioral healthcare needs of the residents of Prince William County.”

  7. Transportation • One way non-peak drive times from Woodbridge to existing facilities range from 30-65 minutes. • Public transportation times range from 1:20 minutes to 7:49 • Transportation barriers place needless burdens on families in crisis

  8. Greater Prince William Area Community Health Assessment • Respondents selected Mental Health and Substance Abuse as significant public health issues for the Greater Prince William County. • Lowest ratio of providers per population in Northern Virginia 5,806:1 other counties are 2,695:1 or less. • Prince William County Community Services has documented a dramatic increase in the number of teen crisis calls received, from 196 in FY 2006 to 1,757 in FY 2010

  9. Prince William Community Service Board • For the past 5 years, Prince William County CSB has placed the highest number of patients outside of PD8 • 25% of patients are sent out of the area. • No fewer than 6 psychiatric facilities are contacted by the CSB before placing outside of PD8

  10. Sentara NV Medical Center • Sentara is the closest acute care hospital to BH Woodbridge • Their Emergency Department is transferring over 500 psychiatric patients annually to other facilities • 23% are sent outside of Northern Virginia.
