UCEDDs • University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities • Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act • At least one in every state & territory • Work with persons with disabilities, families, government and advocacy agencies and community providers to conduct research and achieve positive changes

  7. LEND • Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities • Funded by MCHB • Leadership skills • Interdisciplinary clinical services • Unique needs of children with special health care needs & their families • Cultural competency • Family-based care

DDRCs • Developmental Disabilities Research Centers • Funded by NICHD to serve as a national resource & “centers of research excellence” • Mission = scientific discovery • Work to discover causes, prevention strategies, treatments and interventions for birth defects and developmental disabilities • Represent our nation’s biomedical and behavioral research effort for developmental disabilities
