  1. November Unit Kristi Veitenheimer EDIM 508 This presentation will give 2nd grade students many insights into what themes, celebrations, and holidays make up the month of November. I will use some of the video clips as introductions to lessons during the month. The presentation will also be used as a learning center for students to explore on their own during the month.

  2. Science TEKS: • 7d-observe changes in weather and seasons • 9a-identify the external characteristics of different kinds of plants that allow their needs to be met • 9b-compare and give examples of the ways living organisms depend on each other and on their environments • Social Studies TEKS: • 1a-explain the significance of various community, state, and national celebrations • 3a-name several sources of information about a given period or event • 4a-identify contributions of historical figures who have influenced the community, state, or nation • 15a-identify selected stories, poems, and other examples of the local cultural heritage • 17a-obtain information about a topic using a variety of oral sources such as interviews and music • 17b-obtain information about a topic using a variety of visual sources such as pictures, graphics, computer software, literature, reference sources, and videos • Language Arts TEKS: • 7c-read to accomplish various purposes, both assigned and self-selected • 8b-develop vocabulary by listening to both familiar and conceptually challenging selections read aloud • 13a-connect life experiences with the life experiences, language, customs, and culture of others Standards Alignment
